About

I started American Static as a place where I could talk about politics, the city of Chicago, and anything else that struck me as interesting or worth writing about.

A few bedrock, unchangeable principles inform my political writing:

  1. The United States is a fundamentally good country. It is far from perfect and deserves plenty of criticism, but the values outlined in the founding documents are important, and noble in their intention. And they are things in which I believe.
  2. Winston Churchill is claimed to have said something to the effect of “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.” I believe that, and I believe the same thing about Capitalism as an economic system.
  3. Everyone is fair game when it comes to criticism, and I consider myself a center-right independent.

Everything else is up for debate, and discussion.

We’ll see you out there.
